1 Month Later (OH MY GOD I DIDN'T PUBLISH THIS, SORRY!!!)

Hey again! It’s been a while!

So, I’m much closer now to finishing up the entirety of part 1! In fact, I’m just over halfway done adapting the entirety of the finished webcomic into the game. I’ve decided to wait until part 3 of each is done, as my plans for part 2 are much longer than I thought they’d be, and something I wanted to put in there is too long to cram in. This means that my estimates I’ve made previously will be a little off, but hopefully it’ll be late next year when I can finally release this!

I actually caught the rona, so that’s slowed my progress down somewhat, but I’m all better now. To me, it was like the mildest case of the flu I’ve ever had, or the worst cold I’ve ever had; that’s the best way I can describe my experiences with it, please stay safe and if you can, get the vaccine!

Anyway, back on topic…

I’ve gone back and edited some dialogue; I usually do this whenever I write anything. Despite this, I’m still including a toggle at the beginning of these three parts so that the player can skip any content they’ve previously played. A lot of the dialogue changes are minor, and it’s more my own perfectionism/the way my mind looks for errors lmao.

I’ve managed to get a lot done in the past month. I’ve added in a few scripts (hopefully I will not need to add many more in at this point!) and there’s now an options menu that can be accessed! It’s not much, but, for as much as I try to mix the music and sound well, it’s definitely not something I’m good at, so hopefully adding in a volume slider for various sounds/music will be helpful! There’s also an autorun option which I’m assuming will be incredibly useful to a lot of people. (Yanfly, you are a legend!)

I’m debating whether or not to add in another certain script that will make the player followers look a little more dynamic when walking, I’m gonna give that one a test when I’m finishing up.

On to new story content! So far, I’ve finished up with the school scene I was talking about earlier, and am now onto showing what Veer, Smiley and Jagger were doing just before they started the agency. There’s also some stuff about how Vesper and Damien met, too! At the end of part 1, I’m hoping to give a bit of a rewrite to something I had in the original comic, and I’m really happy with the idea I have for it, actually. I think you’ll like the character I’m introducing, even if he is a little bit of an ass…

As for Feather Dust… I’ve gotten the entire mansion scene to my liking, and I’ve just finished up with Ringo and the others going home with Daryan. (Speaking of, off topic, once more, but I didn’t mean to name him after the Ace Attorney character, I was trying to think of a name for him and it popped into my head; I was like ‘Huh? Where’s this from? IDK but it fits him.’ And the very next day I had a realization, but it was too late and he was just associated with the name in my head haha).

I’m finishing some of Ringo’s backstory off right now, and there’s a scene with Micah and Charlie before all that. I’m looking forward to the ending of FD part 1 – I liked it when I wrote it for the comic, and with the additions I’m making to it here, I’m honestly really happy with how it’s looking.

I managed to get the motivation to make more music too! I find that when I get the motivation to compose, I get a lot of music done, but then cannot even bear to look at the GarageBand gui for at least two months… I’m thinking about giving FL Studio a shot soon, it’s rather cheap on iPad. I’ll get back to y’all on my progress with that!

Also, in this version, I’m not gonna be having any fragments to collect. I will be adding them all back in when I make a compiled version in the future, but for now, it’s sorta pointless for them to be here. I’m gonna have them unlock some extra things after the epilogue (woah, woahhhhh that’s quite a while away yet!) and the thing is, it’s just easier to put all of this stuff in the final version.

I’m also figuring out new ways in which to plan everything out. I’m reaching the end of comic pages to base gameplay off, so now, what I’m trying, is mapping out all the scenes in a document to give me a rough idea of what to do. I cannot function without some sort of plan despite being horribly disorganised (although, I’m more organised than a lot of people I know, so maybe I just notice it more with myself?). I can be a little averse to change, but I think I’ll eventually find planning in this way helps me get a more concise picture of what I need to do than sketching (it’ll save my wrists as well).

I think this was more concise than usual; so, I’m definitely sticking with monthly updates from now on. Thanks for reading!
